Teeth that have either developed decay or have fractured below the gum line (see arrow in Before Surgery photo) do not need to be removed and replaced. A crown lengthening procedure can create enough exposure of healthy tooth structure (see arrow in After Surgery photo) for your dentist to repair the problem.
