Treatment Instructions - After Scaling and Root Planing Oral Hygiene Since routine brushing and flossing may be slightly uncomfortable immediately after treatment, complement your usual oral hygiene routine by rinsing twice daily with Peridex or Periogard (Chlorhexidine 0.12%) for two days after your treatment. Rinsing with Listerine can be substituted afterwards. Diet You can eat whatever you like as soon as the area feels comfortable and you are able to clean the area effectively. If an irrigating solution was used, do not rinse in the first half-hour after treatment. Discomfort Some soreness is expected for 24-48 hours following the procedure. Advil, Aleve, Tylenol or equivalent should be taken before the anesthetic (Novocaine) wears off and afterwards as needed. As always, if you have questions, call us at 781.344.8445.
