Two Women - Strasbourg, France

The promotional brochures always presented this Alsatian capital bathed in sunlight. During my stay, however, it was generally overcast. Strasbourg is situated in a valley with the Vosges mountains on its western flank and the Black Forest just across the Rhine to the east. Clouds and industrial pollution frequently become trapped, producing gray, showery days. Undeterred, I would set out to capture images in my Leica viewfinder that would render the overcast meaningless. The two women strollers cooperated perfectly as I created this photograph.
