Route 10 Barn - NH
Stone and mortar masonry served as a foundation for this aging barn overlooking Old Route 10 on the outskirts of Newport, N.H. It was a favorite landmark of mine on this frequently traveled conduit. I would love to see its persona change in the backdrop of each passing season that my family returned to our Granite State retreat. Our home displays "portraits" of the barn; one warmed by late afternoon amber hues of autumn, another awakened with sprinkles of freshly fallen snow. This subdued image was made during a soft, quiet rain in the twilight of the barn's life. Today only the stone foundation remains, marking the spot where my weathered N.H. friend possessed the high ground on Old Route 10.
