Frenectomy
Successful orthodontics includes maintaining the desired tooth positions achieved with therapy. A prominent frenum, the fibrous tissue between the upper lip and gum tissue pictured here, can prevent teeth from staying together and lead to spaces reopening. In anticipation of such a case, a frenectomy is indicated to reposition the frenum attachment to a point away from the gumline as shown in the After photo.
